WHY DBAG?

FIVE GOOD REASONS TO OPT FOR DBAG

Interested in joining DBAG? With a staff of almost 70, we are the largest private equity firm in Germany and are always happy to talk to people who want to write the next chapter in our success story with us. Whether you’re looking for an apprenticeship, are a student, recent graduate or professional with several years of experience, learn more about why joining DBAG is an outstanding choice.

  1. RECOGNISED VALUES

Willingness to take responsibility, openness, mutual respect: these are values that we have cultivated for more than five decades.
  2. SELF-INITIATIVE AND SELF-DEVELOPMENT

Everyone has their own ideas of where they want to go professionally. We give people the freedom they need to develop their full potential.
  3. FLAT HIERARCHIES

The private equity business calls both for conscientious analysis and a willingness to take decisions, qualities well served by our flat hierarchies and short decision-taking lines.
  4. MANY YEARS OF SERVICE

Our staff like the work environment and appreciate the benefits available at DBAG. But above all, they value highly the opportunities for personal development that DBAG offers. Their many years of service attests to this: our employees currently average more than eight years with the Company across all parts of our organisation.
  5. ATTRACTIVE LOCATION

DBAG offers more than just attractive working conditions: situated in Frankfurt, one of the world’s major financial centres, our modern offices are located in the heart of the city, near the historic German Stock Exchange building.

OUR PROFILE

Deutsche Beteiligungs AG is a listed private equity company. We initiate closed-end private equity funds – DBAG funds – which enable institutional investors to invest in the equity or equity-like instruments of unlisted companies. DBAG advises or manages these funds. That means DBAG identifies, analyses and structures investment opportunities. We negotiate investment agreements, support the portfolio companies during the time of our investment and shape the disinvestment process. Employing our proprietary capital, we co-invest alongside these DBAG funds. A share in DBAG thereby creates access to a portfolio of unlisted companies and, at the same time, to a successful fund investment services business.

STATEMENTS

MAXIMILIAN VOGL, ANALYST SINCE 2016

After earning my Master's Degree, I wanted a broad range of experience, so I started looking for a position that offered multifaceted, interdisciplinary responsibilities. I noticed that DBAG was a particularly active private equity investor in Germany and realised it offered the chance to get the experience I wanted.

The colleagues I work with every day at DBAG are what make my job special. The atmosphere in our office is relaxed, friendly and supportive. In addition to the interpersonal aspects, I particularly appreciate the steep learning curve that results from the challenging projects in various industries, the team-based work and the many opportunities for taking responsibility right from the start. The high point so far was supporting a transaction from start to finish shortly after I joined the Company. Until now, no two days have been the same – I’m curious to see what challenges will be coming next!

One of the big advantages of DBAG as an employer is its extensive training programme and many further education opportunities.

FELIX KLEIN, OFFICER PUBLIC RELATIONS AND INVESTOR RELATIONS SINCE 2016

Since I’m just beginning my career, it’s important to me to work in an environment that will allow me to advance personally and professionally. I’ve found exactly that at DBAG.

During my first months with the Company, I’ve come to know private equity as a very dynamic and multifaceted field. From the very first day, I was able to work on a range of projects. I was given responsibility quickly even though I’m just at the start of my career.

The DBAG team has high expectations of itself. You can always sense the desire to constantly improve. The flat hierarchies are a good basis for facilitating speedy decisions.

I enjoy working at DBAG, not least because of the new challenges you’re constantly faced with. At the same time, the efforts of each individual are recognised and valued.

CLARISSA BRENNER, APPRENTICE TRAINING TO BE AN OFFICE MANAGEMENT ASSISTANT SINCE 2015

What I’ve learned on a daily basis about private equity and finance has made working here exciting right from the start. DBAG really wants apprentices to be an integral part of the work processes in the different areas. You’re given a lot of freedom to decide for yourself, especially in the Human Resources and the Finance and Accounting departments.

From day one, I’ve really appreciated the teamwork and the support you’re given at DBAG. People on all levels are always willing to answer any questions you might have. The friendliness and cooperation create a productive atmosphere, making it easy to work and learn.

DBAG is giving me the opportunity to complete my apprenticeship as an Office Management Assistant while working in an exciting environment – a solid basis for my professional future.

THREE QUESTIONS FOR KARL-MICHAEL MAAS

  1. WHAT OPPORTUNITIES FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT DOES DBAG OFFER ITS EMPLOYEES?

New members on our investment team are given the opportunity of working on transactions from the very start, thereby learning from experienced colleagues. We quickly delegate partial projects to them, which allows them to prove themselves and further develop their skills.

Additionally, all of our employees benefit from our professional development programmes. We offer everyone the training needed to acquire the skills and knowledge required to do their job. An equally important part of the DBAG career experience is the training that focuses on improving personal skills and increasing methodological expertise.
  2. WHY DO PEOPLE LIKE WORKING AT DBAG?

It’s true, employee satisfaction at DBAG is especially high. Not only do you see it in the daily activities at the Company, which is our comparatively small. Our employee surveys and statistics confirm it: even though new people have joined us over the past five years, our staff averages more than eight years of service.

We ascribe this to the fact that we delegate – and expect our people to take – responsibility and authority early on within a clearly defined “playing field”. Our aim is to respond to the vision each employee has for his or her own career as best we can.

We feel that the work environment should contribute to personal satisfaction. An important aspect is work-life balance: we support our staff in arranging child care – financially and organisationally. The people at DBAG very much appreciate the extensive benefits, such as competitive salaries, a bonus scheme linked to the Company’s performance, 30 days of holiday, capital accumulation benefits and an attractive company pension plan. That also holds true of the many initiatives we offer to help our employees stay healthy. Our spacious offices are located in the centre of Frankfurt near the historic German Stock Exchange building.
  3. HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE CORPORATE CULTURE AT DBAG?

Our work relationships reflect the values we have cultivated for more than 50 years: empowerment and willingness to take responsibility, openness in our interpersonal actions, mutual respect.

Our aim is to build a professionally satisfying and supportive environment for all of our employees. Accountability, room for personal scope, short decision-taking lines, flat hierarchies – these are the basis of our daily work.

Our responsibility, however, extends beyond our Company: Deutsche Beteiligungs AG is committed to the principles of sustainable corporate governance and meets high standards in environmental, social and corporate governance issues.
