Founded in 2000, von Poll Immobilien is an estate agency that focuses on high-quality residential properties in the Rhine-Main area. Over the years, von Poll Immobilien has become one of the leading agency platforms in its segment in Germany, Austria and Switzerland. The company’s network today comprises some 340 offices across Germany and nine further European countries. The majority of these offices are operated by independent sales partners. More than 800 estate agents work under the von Poll Immobilien brand. The company provides them with training, marketing materials and other support. Together, they offer customers a range of services associated with the sale and rental of residential and commercial properties. The company also advises on new construction projects and the valuation of real estate.
POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT
In a macroeconomic climate currently following a consistently positive trend, the agency is benefiting from increased demand for high-quality residential property in cities, metropolitan areas and holiday destinations. It is therefore expected that von Poll Immobilien will continue to grow in the future by opening new offices, and to expand on its market position, particularly outside of Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Its first targets will be European markets such as France, Italy, Spain, the UK and Poland. Further starting points for the development of the company include the digitalisation of the business and the strengthening of the brand.
FINANCIAL YEAR 2019
Continuing its successful track record, von Poll Immobilien has pushed ahead with measures to exploit the existing market potential. In the financial year 2019, the company is expected to increase both its revenues and its earnings compared to the previous year under continued favourable macroeconomic conditions.
OUTLOOK AND OBJECTIVES
2020 will be impacted by a new framework conditions for the real estate brokerage industry in Germany. From mid-2020 onwards, buyers and sellers should share the brokerage fee nationwide, rather than to be paid largely by buyers as it was customary in the past in most parts of Germany. As a consequence, the management expects a revenue growth rate below prior years and lower margins for 2020. In the mid-term, von Poll Immobilien should benefit from an increasing industry consolidation.
Ragnar Geerdts joined Deutsche Beteiligungs AG in 2012 and became a Managing Director in 2017.
Ragnar Geerdts has over 13 years of experience in private equity and mergers and acquisitions. He has extensive knowledge of the automotive supplier and telecommunications industries and in mechanical and plant engineering. He was involved in numerous investments and disinvestments, including DNS:NET, Frimo, Formel D, inexio, mageba, Oechsler and Unser Heimatbäcker. Ragnar Geerdts also led the investment process in vitronet, netzkontor nord, von Poll Immobilien, BTV Multimedia, FLS and DING Group and sits on the advisory councils of these companies. Before joining Deutsche Beteiligungs AG he worked in the area of M&A at Bayer AG and at Deutsche Post AG.
Ragnar Geerdts holds a degree in Business Administration from Freie Universität Berlin, and also studied at the Beijing Foreign Studies University.
