With the MBO of netzkontor nord, DBAG has invested in a well-positioned service provider in a fast-growing market. We want to support the company in its further development using the expertise that DBAG has gained from its current trio of investments in this sector.
netzkontor nord GmbH (netzkontor nord) was established in 2008 and is the holding of a group of companies providing services to the telecommunications industry. The Group is pursuing a buy and build strategy. netzkontor nord operates two separate business units: under the “netzkontor” brand, the company offers a range of services relating to the planning and supervision of fibre-optic network construction. Its subsidiary OpenXS handles network management services based on long-term contracts with operators of fibre-optic networks.
POTENTIAL FOR DEVELOPMENT
The demand for fast internet connections is increasing among both private households and companies. However, broadband coverage has so far expanded at a sluggish pace in Germany. Only 1.3 per cent of households will benefit from a particularly powerful broadband connection via fiber optics (2018). In neighboring European countries, the proportion is many times higher. in comparison with other European countries. In this favourable market environment, netzkontor nord is benefiting from its strong reputation as a reliable, high-quality provider and from its project management expertise. It is also expected to continue reporting double-digit revenue growth in the coming years. The plan is to further drive forward the company’s regional expansion and the diversification of its customer base by way of acquisitions.
FINANCIAL YEAR 2019
Following two add-ons in the first year of our holding period, netzkontor nord was able to complete two more add-on acquisitions in 2019. With Voss Telecom Services GmbH, netzkontor nord aims to leverage its regional presence in North Rhine-Westphalia, Baden-Wuerttemberg and Hesse for realising cross selling potential. The SSF Group will enable netzkontor to expand its value chain and enter into the NE4 (in-house wiring) market. Without the two most recent add-ons, management expects a strong increase in profitability at a flat development of netzkontor’s sales in 2019.
